Some more pattern mixing with plaid and floral. It is a year of the pastel colors in this scarf, but I love the rich colors. So I used darker shades of the colors in the scarf as a background for this scarf.
Scarf challenge is moving along. Unfortunately my son mixed the used drawer with the unused one while playing dress up. So I might use some scarfs again, but I'm half way through my scarf drawers and there won't be any unworn scarfs when this challenge is over. Yay!
I had two completely different parts to my schedule today. In the morning, I volunteered for helping to build gARTbage with artist Teresa Espaniola for my son's school auction. We built a dolphin and a turtle using the trash we collected in a recent beach clean up activity. They turned out beautiful! In the afternoon, I had a few important meetings. So I needed an outfit to serve both well. This worked very well in that I felt comfortable working with kiddos and handwork in the morning, and felt that I still had a professional edge to my outfit for the afternoon.
I know they are last year, but I still find ruffles fresh and exciting. Maybe because I haven't worn much of it last year. How about you? Are you planning to wear ruffles this summer?
This black skirt has a sating patch on the side which makes it a bit more dressy for work. Same with the fabric of the ruffles on the white top. To dress it down, I added the denim jacket and wedges. Turquoise necklace, yellow bag and purple scarf are all added for extra colors and visual interest.
And yes, I'm still on with the scarf challenge, but I stopped counting. :)
It's finally Friday and I submitted two papers this week! I'm looking forward to this weekend to play. These fun Sweet Pea top, playful shoes and white bead necklace made by me helped me to get through the day. Since San Diego tends to be coolers in the morning and evening, I added the white sparkly scarf that was hand made and gifted to me by my aunt.
Sweet Pea is a brand I use a lot in summer. Although expensive in retail stores, I always find them for reasonable prices in discount stores like Marshalls and Loehmans. I recommend their ease of wash, lightweight no-iron fabric, fun patterns and colors and more importantly easy fit. If you're looking for comfortable summer tops, these are one of them.
One of the things I love about summer fashion is polka dots. I find find polka dots happy and fresh with a European flavor. So they don't have to be in fashion for me to have a few polka dots in my closets. So, I'm enjoying seeing polka dots everywhere this season. Stripes and polka dots... both are making my Spring so far!
These polka dot wedges are a couple of years old and I have the scarf for at least 15 years. I liked adding them to an otherwise neutral outfit and they completely changed the way it looked.
Coral is one of this years favorite colors and it is one of my favorite colors. I especially like it with buttery cream and pearl.
This two-toned coral silk scarf seemed like an easy addition to the black and cream outfit that morning especially since the black shirt had coral stripes. Little did I know! In the rush of the morning, I ended up knotting it the simplest way using the square knot. The outfit didn't feel right: a bit boring, rigid and non-creative. I wasn't sure why I wasn't feeling it until I thought about tying the scarf as a neck wrap under the shirt showing only the darker shade of coral and hiding the edges. I was suddenly myself again. These suddle differences can completely change the way I feel about how I'm dressed up.
Which one do you prefer the most: the square knot or the neck wrap?
I was at a workshop today. I posed in front of the journals so I look more workshop appropriate.
Daytime bling is something I like to do and I do it often. This tunic has gold stripes so it seemed natural to pair it with a gold cardigan. The scarf is a mix of silk and polyamide so it has quite some shine to it. I like this scarf so much that I have it in three colors. I wore the bordeaux-colored one recently.
I'm enjoying my cocktail rings again these days. I noticed I wore one every day this week!
Another busy, but productive day that lasted 19 hours. Everything is submitted, yay!
I love this shirt with the shades of green, yellow, blue and a different paisley pattern. Having all the bright colors gave me energy today after sleeping only a few hours last night.
While outdoors, I wore a black motorcycle jacket and black bag from last week's Capsule Wardrobe Challenge. It's been so busy that I couldn't even swap my work bag yet.
I have a workshop to attend tomorrow and then it is weekend! :)
