Scarf Challenge: Day 11 -- Sweet Pea and Bubble Gum

It's finally Friday and I submitted two papers this week! I'm looking forward to this weekend to play. These fun Sweet Pea top, playful shoes and white bead necklace made by me helped me to get through the day. Since San Diego tends to be coolers in the morning and evening, I added the white sparkly scarf that was hand made and gifted to me by my aunt.

Sweet Pea is a brand I use a lot in summer. Although expensive in retail stores, I always find them for reasonable prices in discount stores like Marshalls and Loehmans. I recommend their ease of wash, lightweight no-iron fabric, fun patterns and colors and more importantly easy fit. If you're looking for comfortable summer tops, these are one of them.

Do you have a favorite summer brand?

Scarf Challenge: Day 10 -- Summer Happy

One of the things I love about summer fashion is polka dots. I find find polka dots happy and fresh with a European flavor. So they don't have to be in fashion for me to have a few polka dots in my closets. So, I'm enjoying seeing polka dots everywhere this season. Stripes and polka dots... both are making my Spring so far!

These polka dot wedges are a couple of years old and I have the scarf for at least 15 years. I liked adding them to an otherwise neutral outfit and they completely changed the way it looked.

How about you? Do you have a favorite pattern?

Little Black Dress with a Boyfriend Blazer

I don't get to do so many dinner dates, but I'm happy that we were able to get out for hubby's birthday. I only had 15 minutes to shower and get dressed to go as usual. I think the outfit came out nicely thanks to the pairing between the red lining of the blazer, satin cowl neck LBD, and the low slung red patent belt. I just added bold earrings, striped tights and cowboy boots to complete the look.

The pictures didn't come out very nicely in a rush unfortunately. I just wanted to share a simple idea. I had this bordeaux blazer for more than 10 years. After not using it a few years prior to this year, I almost gave it away and ended up holding on to it because of it's quality. I'm so glad I kept it. I was able to use it again this year as a boyfriend blazer after simply folding the arms.

Scarf Challenge: Day 7 -- One Coral Scarf and Two Looks

Coral is one of this years favorite colors and it is one of my favorite colors. I especially like it with buttery cream and pearl.

This two-toned coral silk scarf seemed like an easy addition to the black and cream outfit that morning especially since the black shirt had coral stripes. Little did I know! In the rush of the morning, I ended up knotting it the simplest way using the square knot. The outfit didn't feel right: a bit boring, rigid and non-creative. I wasn't sure why I wasn't feeling it until I thought about tying the scarf as a neck wrap under the shirt showing only the darker shade of coral and hiding the edges. I was suddenly myself again. These suddle differences can completely change the way I feel about how I'm dressed up.

Which one do you prefer the most: the square knot or the neck wrap?

Friday Cheer

  • Sunday is "PI Day". Finally the day we were looking forward to celebrating!
  • One day, I want to have enough time to try Price is Right. Have you?
  • An anti-acne app for iPhone. Really? What's next? Please someone turn my iPhone into a compact mirror!
  • I loved the variety of scarf knots and explanations  on this site. Expect some of the knots to appear in my scarf challenge.
